November 25 marks the opening ceremony of the Year of Science between Russia and the EU 2014

The purpose of this scientific year is to demonstrate the achievements of the national research and development sector, as well as creating conditions for increasing the capacity of scientific and technological cooperation between Russia and Europe.
Russia is preparing to implement 4 megaprojects in the near future. With the participation of the international research community this will create unique world-class research facilities. 
A new federal program "Research and Development" for 2014-2020 is being launched, which is aimed primarily on the formation of advanced scientific and technological provisions and to develop priorities in science and technology for translating the results of basic research into  products demanded by relevant sectors of the economy. The total for the execution of these research projects under the new program is planned to be 10 billion euros.
The EU Ministry plans to ensure the participation of young Russian scientists, graduate students and established designers of high-tech products in more than 30 events in the European Union and Russia. The EU plans to invest 2.5 million euros in this sector of cooperation with Russia.
