BioVitrum establishes the first Russian nCounter station for the digital analysis of nucleic acids

26.12.2013

In December in one of the leading scientific centers of the country, the Research Institute of Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery (Moscow), BioVitrum installed Russia's first station for digital analysis of nucleic acids - nCounter. This unique system works using the NanoString technology of fluorescent barcoding.

This system is an advanced diagnostic tool for the genotyping of congenital muscular dystrophy diseases, mitochondrial diseases, metabolic diseases and mental illness through RNA expression extracted from the blood and tissues of patients. Thanks to this system the range of tasks which can be done at this center will be greatly expanded. Laboratory technician Vladimir S. Sukhorukov believes that such highly standardized techniques can significantly improve the quality of diagnosis and treatment in the country.

On the 4th of December, Jim White, a specialist from NanoString held a solemn presentation of the system for experiments and data processing full cycle.
